Candied Walnuts

This candied walnut recipe is always a hit around the holidays!
1 pound    walnut halves  
1 cup    sugar  
2 tsp    cinnamon  
1/4 tsp    salt  
6 Tbs    skim milk  
1 tsp    vanilla extract  

1 Preheat over to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2 Spread nuts in a single lay on a baking sheet to roast for about 8 to 10 minutes.
3 Stir together sugar, cinnamon, salt, and skim milk in a saucepan. Cook over a medium-high heat for 8 minutes, or until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage of 236 degrees F (113 degrees C).
4 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla immediately.
5 Add roasted walnuts to sugar syrup and stir to coat well.
6 Spoon walnuts onto waxed paper, and immediately separate nuts with a fork.
7 Cool and store in an airtight container.
